News from Carl

  10/18/07

Hello, again. A fellow musician and friend of mine, John Reno who lives outside Mobile, AL has come up with a fantastic idea.

HOUSE CONCERTS.  That's right. You and your friends can have your own private show at your house. Inside or outside. ("But Carl, we don't have a piano...") No worries. I do. I have already performed at several residences. The idea is for you and your friends share the cost evenly. Call the number down at the bottom of this page for more information. I bring all the musical equipment needed. Fees will vary according to how far I have to go to come play for you. Happy October.

  Hi, Everyone!

There has been a change in the date when I will be singing the National Anthem at Bank Of America Stadium for a Carolina Panthers game. I have been replaced by Edwin McCain for the Cowboys-Panthers game on 12/22, and will be given a game to do some time in the 2008 season. I consider it one of my dreams coming true. I have been making friends from all over the world on MySpace. Very enlightening. Hope you are all doing well.

all my best

  Hello, My Friends-

Today, my sister Sue would have turned 57 years old. Most of you have learned by now that she passed away at her home in Chapel Hill, NC on July 18th. We all love and miss you Sue.

There are some more pleasant things to report on this day. On Saturday, September 22nd  at Charlotte's Festival In The Park I will be a guest keyboardist and also sing lead vocals on one song with the Charlotte based band "Crisis". Other guest players include Jamie Hoover of The Spongetones, and Donna Duncan. It will feel great to have some people to play with.

I am also returning to the always fun and exciting college circuit. Beginning where I originally started, the Southeastern states. I will also be acting as an agent for three other acts. (agency web site almost completed...) Waiting to hear from out NBA Charlotte Bobcats regarding the results of my national anthem audition last weekend. The date with the NFL Carolina Panthers has been put on hold to be announced for possibly the 2008 season. More news as it developes.

Take care of each other.....

SUMMER SHOWS: It's always a great thing to play in the great outdoors. I have eight or nine dates scheduled for BIRKDALE VILLAGE in Huntersville as well as RIVER GATE PLAZA in southwest Charlotte on Hwy 49.  For those of you who attend, I highly recommend that you bring your own chairs. There is little to no seating at either location, and that leaves the grass at BIRKDALE , and the cement at RIVER GATE. I am very grateful for those of you who have listened to my show(s) at these locations. So far we are 3 for 3 as far as the weather cooperating. I hope our good luck will continue. Here's a flash for you. A new song I am writing has been inspired by a My Space "friend" from Pennsylvania. You will be hearing more about it soon. You never know what to expect on the internet. Songs to listen to on "My Space" this month are "End Of The Rainbow" (C.Rosen), "Only Living Boy In New York" (P.Simon) , "No Man's Land" (Steve Stoeckel) and "Sandstorm" (C.Rosen). "When your friends are there, everything's all right....(Bernie Taupin/ Elton John)

   Greetings Everyone!

Bet you're glad that the weather is really nice now. I hope that everyone is doing well. I am happy to say that my spring-summer schedule is shaping up nicely. Also, I would like to thank Randy Franklin of the band "CRISIS" for having me play piano on two of his songs at Hooverama Studios back in April. Thanks also to all of you who are "My Space" friends. The final tune for my new CD is in it's first phase. After the composition is complete, it will be recorded, then the 12 songs will be placed in order, then it's off to the CD factory! Look for another update when the magic moment (finally) happens. Enjoy spring!

Happy New Year! I'm talking about the Chinese New Year. It's past the deadline for anyone to be saying Happy New Year here today. Just wanted to let you know that I have not totally abandoned my CD that's been in the works for some time now ("Echo Of The Silence") since I've made some decisions that involve the removal of one song, and the need for two more songs of my own. I feel that a CD priced at $15.00 should contain a minimum of 12 tunes. I would like to thank my newest and youngest friend down in Columbia, SC for helping me with "myspace". I omit the name for privacy, however I do believe that a lot of people will know this person in the future.

Special thanks to JIM DEEM, JAMIE HOOVER, DON DIXON, MY DAUGHTER, MOM & DAD and "BETTY" the cat. Only 21 days until March. Time flies. (First Class) We Charlotte artists have an avid supporter who is very young but has twice the wisdom than has age. Support like this is what prevents us from stopping what we do. Be sure to visit the updated "myspace" @ www.myspace.com/carlrosen. If you are a "myspace cadet", please be a friend, OK? Keep checking the schedule for dates in your area. Thank you again.

What a weekend! It was great to return to The Northland the weekend of the 21st and 22nd. Friday the 21st was at BEBOP in Blaine, MN where my good bud Dan Nelson got up and sand "PIANO MAN" , while I just played it. You can see for yourself on the recently updated photo page. Thanks also to the Artsblock people in Wausau, Wisconsin. It was a privilege to have performed at Wausau's GRAND THEATER, and for so many nice people. Thanks to St. John Artists in Neenah, WI for bringing me to Wisconsin again.

I love to hear from people whom I have not seen or heard from in years. If you are one of those who have attended one of my shows years ago, become a BLAST FROM THE PAST by e-mailing me , and letting me know how your life is turning out. Until next time-

GREETINGS TO ALL BILLY JOEL FANS. ESPECIALLY IN THE NORTHEAST. SOME OF YOU HAVE ALREADY SEEN MY SHOW "TURNSTILES" THE BEST OF BILLY JOEL. NOW THAT MR. JOEL IS TOURING AGAIN, I EXPECT AN INCREASE IN DEMAND FOR MY SHOW. ALTHOUGH MOST "TURNSTILES" SHOWS HAPPEN BETWEEN WASHINGTON, D.C. CLEVELAND AND BOSTON AND EVERYWHERE IN BETWEEN, I AM NOT LIMITED AS TO WHERE I WILL TRAVEL. I SUGGEST THAT YOU CLICK ON THE PHOTO OF BILLY JOEL, WHERE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE  AND HEAR AN 8 AND 1/2 MINUTE DEMO OF THE SHOW. I COVER ALL THE SOUNDS FROM "COLD SPRING HARBOR" TO "RIVER OF DREAMS". I USE ALL OF MY OWN GEAR, HOWEVER IF I HAVE ACCESS TO AN ACTUAL GRAND PIANO, I WOULD USE IT AS WELL AS MY DIGITAL KEYBOARDS. I PREFER TO BOOK DATES 4-6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE, HOWEVER DO NOT HAVE RESERVATIONS ABOUT CALLING WITH 2 OR THREE WEEKS NOTICE. SEE MY SCHEDULE, AND YOU WILL KNOW WHERE I AM  AND WHEN. I AM BASED IN NC, BUT I CAN GET AROUND FAIRLY QUICKLY. I TRAVEL BY GROUND UNLESS SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE. HERE ARE SOME OF THE SONGS WHICH CAN BE HEARD DURING MY "TURNSTILES" SHOW:

1. NY STATE OF MIND  2. THE ENTERTAINER 3. ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG 4. ALLENTOWN 5. CAPTAIN JACK 6. SCENES FROM AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT 7. DOWNEASTER ALEXA 8. SHE'S ALWAYS A WOMAN 9. VIENNA 10. HONESTY 11. YOU MAY BE RIGHT 12. MY LIFE 13. MOVIN' OUT 14. SUMMER HIGHLAND FALLS 15. RIVER OF DREAMS 16. STILL ROCK n' ROLL TO ME AND OF COURSE PIANO MAN AND MORE . I WAS RAISED IN NASSAU COUNTY IN LONG ISLAND, ONLY A FEW MILES FROM WHERE BILLY GREW UP.  WE NEVER KNEW EACH OTHER IN NY, BUT DID MEET HERE IN CHARLOTTE BACK IN 1984, AND MY THRILL OF A LIFETIME WAS FULFILLED THAT CHILLY, FEBRUARY NIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO PERFORM FOR HIM (very spontaneously) FOR OVER TWO HOURS. CONTACT ME DIRECTLY, PHONE # IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN. THIS SHOW CAN TAKE PLACE FROM ANYWHERE FROM A CASINO, A BALLROOM, OR AN INDIVIDUAL RESIDENCE. FOR PRICE INFO, YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT ME.

I ACTUALLY TRIED OUT FOR THE MUSICAL "MOVIN' OUT, HOWEVER THE PEOPLE WHO DID THE CASTING CHANGED THEIR MIND ABOUT WHAT THEY REALLY WANTED, AND I DID NOT GET THE ROLE, BUT I AM STILL IN THEIR FILES. I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ARRANGE A SHOW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, HAPPY EASTER/ PASSOVER.

p.s. please sign my guest book if you have read this- thank you

Sorry for the short notice, but I am returning to the TIDEWATER area this weekend. I will be performing at VINTAGE KITCHEN on Friday 3/24/06 from 4-7PM. See schedule for location. I've been waiting a good while to return, and plan on more appearances this spring and summer in the area. I hope to see many of you "spontaneous" people there. Special thanks to Charlie Rizzo and Justine Homer.

Hi, Again everybody! Hope that you are all doing well. It was a thrill to see my friends up in Blaine, MN (outside Minneapolis) on 9/24. Thanks to Dan Nelson and Billy McLaughlin for their part in what was a fabulous evening at "Bebop's". Also, it was a great experience returning to Furman University just yesterday (10/6). Thank you Erik Anderson and Scott Derrick for having me come down to play for you.  Got to see the band "COLDPLAY" perform in Charlotte back on 9/9. I have become a fan, and at least four of their tunes can be heard in my show. Look for me on 11/2 at the Quaker Steak & Lube in Concord, NC . This will be my first performance at "a Lube" although I have frequented the original one in Sharon, PA for years. Keep smiling', til' next time- Ciao!
