Back in the summer of 1976, when I was just 17, (you know what I mean...)I played my first gig for "real" money. Being 17 at the time, I felt that $50.00 was a ton of money. The name of the little restaurant was "The Cottage" and was located on Providence Rd. and Cottage Place. Thirty -three years and some 3,000-odd gigs later, I return to this location- only the name of the place is now "Big Ben British Pub & Restaurant." The building itself has a new portion added to it as well as a nice patio for outdoor dining. My visit to the pub about two weeks ago gave me the impression that the room was just right for me. Upon meeting with the owner, a date (Nov. 27, 2009) has been agreed upon. It took me a little while to realize that this was the same location in which it had all started. Unlike the very first gig, in which I performed using the house Spinet piano, a Radio Shack microphone and my Dad's Univox guitar amp, I now have some of the best musical gear that one can have. Along with my girlfriend, back-up singer, and confidante Freda, I have somehow come full circle in my very busy and fascinating music career.

I would like to let you all know that for the past month I have been working with a some other musicians. I have been putting together a set of tunes for an ELTON JOHN tribute show. Myself, James "Twigs" Patterson on drums, and Dru Dixon on bass are putting the finishing touches on 14 songs, mostly consisting of the best of ELTON JOHN. We're currently perfecting the background vocals on songs such as "Tiny Dancer," "Rocket Man" and "Sad Songs." We are ready for our project to lift off in just one more month. We are rehearsing 2-3 times a week and are very anxious for you to hear us. 'Til next time....

I would like to thank those who have come to see me at the SIX PENCE PUB this month. I will be appearing again this Saturday (3/21/09) at 9pm and appreciate those of you who are planning to come. My previous performances there have gone very well, lots of audience interaction, and hopefully I will be scheduled for more future dates after I return from my Australia vacation. (3-31- Aprl 15) I am actually trying to work out doing a show at a hotel in Sydney, "The Menzies" on Carrington St. If it happens, it would be on 4/10. Anyway, HAPPY SPRING, and I appreciate your continued support. Also, we are still working on the new site (www.carlrosen.net) Visit www.myspace.com/carlrosen for some new photos and great tunes. Thanks again! -CR
COMING SOON www.carlrosen.net 8/10/08 Well I have FINALLY done it! After years of sending demo CD's, I did sing the National Anthem at an NFL game on August 9th between the Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers at Bank Of America Stadium. It seems as though there was about 48,000 in attendance. It was the thrill that I had waited years for. Special thanks to ANNIE HODGES, Festivities Coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. 12/31/07 HAPPY NEW YEAR! Playing in Hilton Head this evening, just came up from JACKSONVILLE, FL to play at The Florida Yacht Club for the Florida Debutante Ball. What an honor that was. Thanks to all the great ladies, hope you like the song I wrote for you.
